Kevin Garnett doesn't want to see the Celtics make a mistake.
KG is watching from afar as Boston enters into an uncertain offseason. The Celtics know they won't have Jayson Tatum for the 2025-26 regular season after his torn Achilles in the playoffs.
On top of that, Boston has aging contracts that might be worth looking to move.
Garnett has one main take, though, and it has to do with the Celtics deciding not to trade someone: Kristaps Porzingis.
The gigantic Latvian has a $30.7 million final year on his contract for this upcoming season.
“Man you got to bring Porzingis back,” Garnett said on his podcast. “Porzingis makes it all unguardable. When Porzingis is in there and everybody is healthy, this year they weren’t healthy at all.”
Porzingis only played 42 regular season games in 2024-25. In those, he was awesome, with 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 41.2 percent from 3.
The playoffs were a nightmare for Porzingis, who battled a tricky illness and couldn't buy a basket.
But KG doesn't think that should be the ending for Porzingis in Boston.
The Celtics wouldn't be able to replace Porzingis with a player like him. There's no one like him.
Jrue Holiday is also in trade rumors, and maybe that's a move the Celtics can make.
But if KG was running the show, Porzingis wouldn't be going anywhere.
