Amy Hagan, a paralegal with Petrusha Law, nominated the PETS (Paws, Ears, Tails, and Smiles) Program to receive May’s $1,000 donation as part of the firm’s “10 Years, $10,000 Thanks” campaign.
“My elderly mother has faced rising pet care costs, which has been difficult at times,” Hagen said in a news release. “Knowing a program like PETS exists eases my mind. It ensures she can continue caring for her pet without added financial stress, allowing her to enjoy the companionship and comfort her pet provides while remaining in her own home.”
The PETS Program provides essential pet care assistance to adults aged 60 and older who are living in low-income households. By helping older adults care for their pet companions, the program aims to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. Eligible participants may receive support such as pet food delivery and veterinary wellness services, ensuring their pets enjoy a healthy, high-quality life while easing the caregiving burden on their owners. This program is made possible through the efforts of the Humboldt Senior Resource Center.
“I love that the PETS Program promotes the well-being of both seniors and their beloved pets. It’s a beautiful way to nurture both ends of the leash,” Petrusha Law founding attorney Angela Petrusha said.
To contribute, send a donation referencing #10Y10K to PETS Program, 1910 California Street, Eureka, CA 95501. Donations can also be made online at www.humsenior.org by selecting “PETS Program” and write #10Y10K to the dedication option.
