Good Morning Britain host halts show for 'breaking news' about Hollywood star
Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Arnold halted the ITV show as he teased 'breaking news' about a Hollywood megastar during Thursday's show
Good Morning Britain host, Richard Arnold, announced a rather exciting piece of 'breaking' news during Thursday's programme.
In the midst of presenting his entertainment roundup, the 55-year-old broadcaster declared: "Now, some breaking news for you!" and an on-screen graphic trumpeted: "Hollywood megastar gets involved."
He went on to tease: "Soccer Aid 2025 is getting a Hollywood heavyweight as a supporter... can you guess who it is? She's just a girl who will be standing in front of tens and thousands of footie fans asking them to cheer with her.."
The big reveal soon followed, with Arnold announcing: "That's right, the pretty woman herself, Julia Roberts, will be taking to the stands of Old Trafford with her family for this year's Soccer Aid in June."
Arnold noted that Julia Roberts hasn't been coy about her love of football, having previously delighted Manchester United supporters. "Now, Julia's made no secret that she's a fan of the beautiful game, she delighted Man United fans a couple of years ago... Julia said she'd be thrilled to attend this year's charity event!", reports the Manchester Evening News.
Old Trafford, Manchester, will once again host Soccer Aid for UNICEF on 15 June. The event brings together celebrities in an effort to raise substantial sums for Unicef.
Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has amassed an incredible £90 million for the children's charity, impacting lives in countries like Cambodia.
This edition will see Tyson Fury make history by managing the England squad, while Manchester United greats Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes are set to return to Old Trafford for the occasion.
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and 2024 Player of the Match Steven Bartlett are among the new additions to a star-studded squad that includes Joe Hart and Angryginge.
Former Lionesses Toni Duggan and Steph Houghton will also be making their Soccer Aid debuts, joining forces with Jill Scott to strengthen England's team against a Soccer Aid World XI lineup boasting Euro 2020 winner Leonardo Bonucci, Nadia Nadim, Diamond and Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez.
The live event will once again be presented by UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O'Leary, with UNICEF UK supporter Alex Scott returning as co-host for the charity match.
