Tram services are delayed after a van and car collided on the tracks in Audenshaw .

The smash took place in the middle of the tracks just before the Audenshaw Metrolink stop at 9.40am on Wednesday morning.

It was moved away from the tracks shortly afterwards, but the incident is causing some delays to Metrolink services.

It is unknown if anybody was injured at this stage.

The incident is causing delays to Ashton-under-Lyne and Eccles via Media City UK tram routes.

Services running between Piccadilly and Ashton have been affected, as well as trams between Deansgate-Castlefield and Eccles.

A spokeswoman for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “There was a road traffic accident just before Audenshaw that happened on the middle of the tracks around 9.40am.

“The accident was pushed out of the way of the tracks. We have got some minor delays.”
