A Paisley mum says her car-loving son has a brighter future thanks to life-changing donations.

Determined Eve Milligan, 27, launched a fundraising campaign last year when her three-year-old son Corey was diagnosed with microcephaly, which causes developmental delays.

She was desperate to make the Ferguslie tot’s life easier and members of the public did not disappoint when she reached out for help.

Along with husband James, 30, and big sister Orla, six, the family raised over £7,000 to buy specialist equipment by hosting a series of events, including a gathering of more than 100 Subaru cars — Corey’s favourite.

Eve said: “There was £7,060 raised in total.

“So far, we have managed to get him his car seat for £2,300 and his Scoot for £395.

“We have put the rest of the money aside.

“We are hoping to buy him a specialised trike for the summer and a new bath seat within the next few weeks.

“We would also like to buy him a walking frame or something similar.”

One of the highlights of the campaign was the Cruise for Corey gathering of Subaru cars in Falkirk, organised by John McLay Marshall last year.

Eve said: “Knowing Corey’s love of cars, John arranged for over 100 Subarus to meet together to give Corey a day to remember.

“Corey absolutely loved seeing all his favourite cars and met so many kind people.

“ John managed to get donations for this event, which he raffled off to raise over £700.”

Eve set up the Brave Little Fox charity to help collect cash for Corey and hosted a fun day at The Gryffe Hotel, in Bridge of Weir, which raised more than £2,000.

And Orla’s pals pitched in too. The Paisley 2nd Girls Brigade, which she attends, raised £114 with a fun night.

Eve says Corey is also much more comfortable now that doctors have adjusted his medication.

She explained: “With the right medication, Corey’s seizures are now controlled and has gone from having anything between 20 to 50 seizures a day to zero, so things are definitely a lot better for him and he’s much more comfortable with his new car seat and Scoot.”
