American Kennel Club dog show comes to Orange County Convention Center

Event open to public

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Professional handlers and owner handlers alike are hoping to make a big splash at this year's American Kennel Club competition.

They've groomed their dogs from around the world to compete at the national event.

More than 4,000 dogs from at least 44 different countries have been registered. There are several competitions including ones based on agility, obedience, tracking and scent training, and conformation, which judges purebred dogs overall appearance and structure.

The event is also a chance for dog lovers to interact with and learn more about different breeds.

“This is a place where you can meet breeders, you can know what breed is right for you, you can see puppies, you can pet dogs, you can learn about temperaments, you can learn about sports -- anything you want to know about dogs,” AKC spokesperson Brandi Hunter said.

The AKC National Championship events will be held all weekend at the Orange County Convention Center. The events are open to the public.Click here for more information.
