After a one-year hiatus, the Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air and Space Show is scheduled to return to the heartland August 10-12, 2018 and June 1-2, 2019.

Colonel Mike Manion, 55th Wing commander, says "opening our gates allows us to connect with Nebraskans and demonstrate the capabilities and professionalism of the finest air and space force in the world. It is just one way to thank Bellevue, Omaha and the surrounding communities for the tremendous support our Airmen receive every day."

The 2018 event will be co-headlined by the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II demonstration teams. The F-22 is designed to project air dominance, rapidly and defeat threats to our nation's Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft.

The F-35A is the U.S. Air Force's latest fifth-generation fighter and provides next-generation stealth, enhanced situational awareness, and reduced vulnerability for the United States and allied nations.

The 2019 event will be headlined by the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The Air Force’s elite demonstration team flies the F-16 Fighting Falcon and has been wowing crowds since 1953.
