Romania - Factors to watch on July 23

BUCHAREST, July 23 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press reports and events to watch which may affect Romanian financial markets on Monday.

DEBT TENDER

GOVERNMENT

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila to present a summary of her cabinet's first six months in office at 1100 GMT.

GAS CAP

The finance ministry withdrew from its website a newly released draft bill that lowers and caps domestic gas sale prices until 2021. It was unclear whether the government still aimed at having it approved.

ANTI-CORRUPTION

Monday is the last day for prosecutors to apply for the job of chief anti-corruption prosecutor after the ruling Social Democrats succeeded in getting Laura Codruta Kovesi dismissed from the job. No prosecutor has applied thus far.

CEE MARKETS

Central European currencies rebounded on Friday as a dollar rally lost momentum in global markets, while new data showed robust growth in wages in Hungary and retail sales in Poland.

SOCIAL DEMOCRAT LEADER

- The head of the ruling Social Democrats Liviu Dragnea told private television station Romania TV on Sunday that a new pension bill, which the government should put up for public debate in August, will introduce a new calculation methodology from 2021, as well as significantly boost all pensions.

- Dragnea also said the government will change via emergency decree an offshore gas bill parliament approved in early July.

In the lower house version, the bill introduces a mix of fixed taxes like royalties and profit levies and variable ones, like a progressive tax on additional income from higher gas prices. It also forces producers to sell half of the gas production from the Black Sea on the Romanian market, while giving them tax deductions for their high investment costs.

It was unclear what changes the emergency decree would make.

- Dragnea also said the ruling coalition of the Social Democrats and their junior partner ALDE could have a single candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
