Music is now a part of life.

This was said by the President for Dragon Music Ltd Kenneth Janson Ho.

Dragon Music  is part of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association HOTEC Tradeshow which starts today.

This is the first time they are part of the Tradeshow at the Sheraton Convention Centre in Denarau.

Mr Ho said one of the reasons they want to be involved in the show was because he believe music has now been part everything we do, whether it be a hotel industry, education or Home and Leisure.

He said that music is applicable to the tourism industry so HOTEC is a platform that will give them the opportunity to showcase the beauty of music.

“We like to be here, I don’t know what the Tradeshow will be like, but we will  check out what it has to offer and next year we will improve on some areas if need be,” Mr Ho said.

“We will be showcasing sprinkling of some of the music instruments and the state-of-the-art of the new things that has been happening including some of the new technologies that are involved in music and sound system.

“There’s no better advertisement then being part of the show as such.

“Since it’s our first, we hope we can come back and do better things. But, at the mean time we would like to see what the whole event is like and take in as much as we can.

The two-day programme will be officiated by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources and it will end tomorrow.

About the HOTEC Tradeshow

HOTEC Tradeshow will provide a platform for people to see, understand and maybe learn new things for the first time.

Chief executive officer for FHTA Fantasha Lockington said this year they have had the highest numbers of booths yet.

There are a total of 33 confirmed exhibitors and 49 booths that will be showcasing and marketing their products.

“The response from the suppliers and the industry has been really awesome and this has resulted in our being able to put on the largest tradeshow we’ve ever done and we hope to build on that,” said Ms Lockington.

She said that HOTEC provides an opportunity for people to check out the trends and the changes in tourism supplies.

It is important to understand what customer demands are and to determine which suppliers will assist you to deliver to those demands” she says.

“We are trying to ensure that we are engage with all parts of the industry as tourism has very diverse reach.

“Along with providing the venue for people to come and see what else is available, the hospitality industry is also being  provided free seminars and learning programmes that include the expected executive chef displays, HR, IT, marketing, bar, restaurant and other information in interactive formats to engage with staff who work these areas or are considering it”

“There are some segments of the industry that haven’t been representative that I would like to include next year.

“So I am keeping an open mind for whatever is out there that we can also showcase,” she said.

She noted her appreciation for the sponsors of the exhibition who worked with FHTA to provide support to make the tradeshow an improved version that can continue to evolve
