The Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) Organizing Committee of Ithraa, Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates has announced Qatar will host the next OPEX trade show September 26 – 28, 2017 at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC).
“We’ve many Omani companies participating at the trade show. In fact, this is the second time we’ve organized an OPEX event at the DECC. And we couldn’t be happier with how well the 2013 OPEX show was received in Doha. We knew there was a need for a large international Omani products initiative but the show’s success exceeded all expectations. Feedback from the event clearly demonstrated that Oman-made products are valued by Qatari businesses, retailers and consumers. We see Qatar as a key growth market for Omani businesses and we’re thrilled to be coming back,” said Ayman Al Hsani, OPEX Committee Head in a statement.
It is estimated that Qatar’s successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup will require more than US$220 billion on upgrading the country’s infrastructure including transport, water, road, rail, ports and power services. In addition, there are development projects in energy, tourism and housing.
“OPEX is all about positioning Omani business as long-term partners in Qatar’s important development efforts. There are outstanding opportunities in Doha and we’re working hard with Omani firms to further strengthen the bilateral trade and investment relationship with Qatar,” remarked Mrs. Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s Director General, Investment Promotion & Export Development and OPEX Organizing Committee member.
With over 70 high-profile companies participating at the 26 – 28 September DECC show Oman’s business community has clearly singled out Qatar as an important trading partner, particularly in the food and beverage; construction; pharmaceuticals; and manufacturing sectors.
“Given the scale of projects in Qatar, the aim of the OPEX show is to help both Omani and Qatari businesses develop the right contacts as well as provide Omani firms with the necessary support in going global,” pointed out Al Balushi.
