IPIM participated at the 53rd Maputo International Fair

The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) participated in the 53rd Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), which took place from August 28 to September 3.

During her stay in Mozambique, the Executive Director of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Irene Lau, visited local government agencies, business associations and chambers of commerce, to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between Mozambique and Macau in the fields of economy, trade and convention and exhibition.

IPIM set up a 36-metre “Macau Pavilion” at the venue, principally to display and promote the latest investment environment in Macau and the services provided by the said agency.

Irene Lau also visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Mozambique together with IPIM representatives. Chinese ambassador, Su Jian and Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Liu Xiaoguang expressed their concern and condolences and inquired about the disaster relief situation. During the meeting, both sides exchanged opinions on how to better assist mainland China and Macau enterprises in accessing the Portuguese-
speaking countries’ market. Ambassador Su introduced the investment environment in Mozambique, and pointed out that there is development potential for Chinese-Portuguese bilingual talents to engage in Traditional Chinese Medicine, tourism and legal sectors, among others, and encouraged enterprises to invest and develop their connection with these markets in Mozambique.

According to IPIM, FACIM is one of the major annual economic and trade events in Mozambique and is also one of the largest international exhibitions in Southern Africa. The exhibitors are mainly from the transportation, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, energy, manufacturing, construction and banking sectors. FACIM is a trade event targeted for manufacturers, vendors, investors, importers, exporters and professional buyers. IPIM has been participating in FACIM since 2007.
