Saturday, Oct. 21, Flemington Speedway Historical Society's seventh annual Car Show presented by Lentini Auto Salvage opens to spectators at 9 a.m. The show ends at 3 p.m. after an awards parade and presentation. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. at the Roger K. Everitt Fairgrounds (South County Park), 1207 Route 179, in Lambertville. The event is being held rain or shine.
More than 900 vehicles were recorded as being displayed last year. This year, the volume of pre-registration entries has exceeded any previous car show by the Historical Society. Event organizers are thrilled with the response and have high expectations for another successful show. The goal is to break more than 1,000 show cars. FSHS President Dennis Tretter shared his enthusiasm by stating, "this event is shaping up to be the best car show that FSHS has held yet", and that "you won't want to miss this show!"
All types of vehicles are welcome - from cars, motorcycles, trucks, tractors, boats, monster trucks, and even hit or miss engines! Registration is $15 per show vehicle the day of the event. Trophies will be awarded to first and second place winners in numerous classes. Dash plaques will be given to the first 500 entries. Spectator admission is $5 per adult, while spectator parking is free. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free with an adult.
First Responders such as Police Departments, Fire Departments, and Rescue Squads are encouraged to promote their organizations by exhibiting a vehicle. Registration is free for these entries. Any first responders wishing to display active duty or antique apparatus should contact event staff to reserve a space. The facebook event is at: https://www.facebook.com/events/163377930867111
The accompanying craft, flea market, and part swap meet has also registered vendors at record pace. Vendor fees are $20 for a 20' by 12' indoor space in one of the four 160 foot- long pole barns, and $100 for a 24' by 16' premium outdoor vendor space. Direct Sales vendors are also welcomed and encouraged.
Inside the main building, which is the site of the Flemington Speedway Historical Society display, registration, and information center, car show apparel will be for sale. The Golden Gup will be announcing and playing tunes outside. A variety of festival food will be offered.
The event's patron, Lentini Auto Salvage, developed a long-standing relationship with Flemington Speedway that now benefits Flemington Speedway Historical Society. Through seven decades, the Ringoes business has been a trusted source for quality used auto parts.
No alcoholic beverages and no pets are permitted on the Roger K. Everitt Fairgrounds. Service animals are exempt. The gates will open at 7 a.m. We hope to see you there!
